B Vintners Exploration Co. is a tangent project by Gavin Bruwer and Bruwer Raats (of Raats Family Wines) that allows them to search beyond the boundaries of their own estate.
Muscat is more famously used for sweet wines but this is made in a dry style and like all their wines is incredibly clean and precise. This guy has a big nose of tropical fruit and that distinctive 'grapey' character. Ironically, only a few grape varieties including Muscat (aka Hanepoot eating grapes) actually smell like grapes when they're made into wine.
The crisp acidity on the palate has some lovely citrussy qualities that cut through the richness on the nose and make this a beautifully balanced wine.
