Jurgen Gouws of Intellego Wines is one of the zanier winemakers out there, known to play psytrance non-stop in the cellar.
He's earned his stripes as one of SA's top natural winemakers, working exclusively with organic fruit in the Swartland and producing a remarkably consistent and focused range of wines year on year.
His labels might often look as though they are drawn by a stoned child but we know the market loves that now and, anyway, who cares when the wines are this good.
Kedungu is a blend of Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvedre fermented semi carbonically to preserve the fresh fruit flavors and the ages in old oak barrels, again to allow the fruit rather than the wood to do the talking. A really fun, delicious and interesting take on the terroir.
