The Schultz family Wines label is Thelema winemaker Rudi Scultz's side hustle, born out of a desire to explore vineyards further afield while giving himself an excuse to visit the country best surf breaks.
The resulting range (featuring feature a Chenin, a Syrah and a Cab) are less conventional than his day job wines but no less intriguing - and lately the Skeleton Bay Chenin has outscored them all.
SA's top critics swooned at the 2018 and the 2019 has been talked up as a more than worthy successor. The good news is the price hasn't yet caught up to the hype, so if you're into Chenin this is a wine to snap up without much thinking.
Lovely balanced wine with a peachy, floral, limey nose along with some lovely tropical notes before, like the wave that inspired it, a long and salty finish.
